We Are Family movie review
2 Sep 2010 | 1393 views | Source: Times of India

Story: Maya (Kajol) is the supermom. Shreya ( Kareena Kapoor) is the wannabe stepmom. Aman (Arjun Rampal) is the confused daddy, torn between the two alpha women.

Having been divorced from his first wife, he is all set to marry his mistress. But before he can do that, he must acquaint her with his three kids who are naturally hostile towards her. Trouble is compounded when Shreya turns out to be the careerist, non-mommy types who views kids as `monsters' and Maya ends up shortchanged by life. Can the family stay together despite the odds?

Movie Review: The Last Lear
21 Sep 2008 | 500 views

Rituparno Ghosh’s THE LAST LEAR aims to target a finite selection of Indians who are hardcore Shakespearean fans and enjoy dialogue-heavy films (I’m sure there are literally dozens of them). But alas…there aren’t too many, and that becomes the films biggest flaw. The concept is fairly simple and because of that it’s important to develop the characters with some density, or at the very least providing the audience with a common connection. However, even Ghosh’s main character Harry (Amitabh Bachchan) fell short of that development.

So what could possibly attract Amitabh Bachchan, Priety Zinta and Arjun Rampal to a film where the subject matter and its heavy Shakespearean theme would not flow with mainstream India? Probably the fact that this movie was released in September of last year at the Toronto film festival. Ghosh’s film, which only has a few lines of Hindi and some Bengali, is entirely in English, meaning it was intended for International recognition as opposed to making a box office splash in India.

Rock On!! Movie Review
29 Aug 2008 | 613 views

Is ROCK ON!! DIL CHAHTA HAI 2, one is tempted to ask. DIL CHAHTA HAI was a trendsetter when you look back, paving way for storytellers who wanted a new story to tell. Now, the DIL CHAHTA HAI team of Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar with director Abhishek Kapoor deliver ROCK ON!!, a film that makes you understand the true meaning of friendship.

Put your hands together for one of the finest films of our times. Put your hands together for a director who pulls off a challenging subject with élan. Put your hands together for the actors who pitch in superlative performances.

ROCK ON!! is not just about music. It's about relationships. And relationships can get really complicated and messy as all of us would agree. ROCK ON!! captures it so beautifully, so sensitively, so effectively on celluloid.
