Though he made his Bollywood debut in 2001 and has
acted in around 20 movies since then, it took Arjun Rampal eight years to get his first Filmfare Award. But the model-turned actor says no wait is too
long to taste success.
"No, not at all. I don't think it is late. I believe it's better late than never. When I joined this industry, I was
a complete outsider and it took me some time to understand how it functions,"Arjun told IANS.
"You learn to grow in this industry and if you
are growing that is great,"he added.
Arjun, who entered filmdom with "Moksha", won the Filmfare Award this year for Best Supporting Actor in
"Rock On!". The 36-year-old actor is now upbeat about working in Prakash Jha's political drama "Rajneeti"which also stars Katrina Kaif.
He said his character doesn't have grey shades but is more of a multi-coloured one.
"I play a politician and you all know how they
are - definitely not sane. So I'm just like one of them, but I won't say it has only shades of grey; you can say that the character is more
colourful like a rainbow,"said Arjun, who was here for the launch of Italian store Viavero at Select City Walk Mall in south Delhi.
"For this
role, I have not copied any particular politician but, yes, I have been observing a lot about them. I'm playing a dynamic and stylish young
politician,"added Arjun, who had earned rave reviews for playing a negative character in "Om Shanti Om".
There was much speculation that he
had to put on weight for his character in "Rajneeti", but the actor joked that before he could gain weight, recession hit the markets badly and he
lost it all.
Arjun walked the ramp for many years before turning to films, but he said he is more comfortable as an actor as it gives him the
opportunity to try something new every day.
"I get bored very easily and acting is something that offers me to do something new every day. It
is very exciting and chances of you getting bored are very less. So I'm enjoying my stint as an actor,"he said.
The actor rubbished rumours
of having doubled his price for Vipul Shah's "Action Replay".
"This is not at all true. Yes, I'm not doing that movie, but the reason
behind it is creativity differences and date clashes. It's a lovely script and I really wish I could have been a part of it,"he said.
Apart
from "Rajneeti", Arjun will also be seen in "Fox"with Sunny Doel, "The Legend of Kunal"with Amitabh Bachchan and in Sajid Khan's "Housefull".
